From here on in, OP's Vallila premises are heated with emission-free Recycled Heat, which is 100 per cent recycled waste heat. The move to emission-free Recycled Heat permits emission savings of about 4.6 per cent from OP Financial Group's own emissions.

Helen continues to invest in carbon neutrality: one of the world’s largest heat pumps planned for Helsinki, enabling faster reduction in the use of coal

Helen is expanding the heating and cooling plant located under the Katri Vala Park in Sörnäinen with a new heat pump, the seventh in all. The investment is the first to replace coal use in the Salmisaari power plant: the output of the new heat pump corresponds to more than 10 per cent of the thermal capacity of Salmisaari.

Helen is investigating the possibility of constructing a bioenergy heating plant in Tattarisuo, Helsinki. In November, the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) is organising a public open evening to disseminate the results of the environmental impact assessment.

Oil tank in the Lassila heating plant to be replaced

The Lassila heating plant, which safeguards heat supplies to North Helsinki, will undergo modifications to meet the EU's new emission limit requirements. The replacement of the oil tank at the heating plant will start in early November. After the oil tank replacement has been completed, the natural gas burners in two boilers in the heating plant will also be replaced.
