Helen donated more than 70 meters for residents' use
To mark the Energy Awareness Week in the second week of October, Helen donated 72 home living condition meters to Helsinki libraries, for lending to city residents.
It has been possible to borrow electricity consumption meters from libraries for several years. The array of meters was now augmented with moisture, decibel, surface temperature and radon meters, as well as wall scanners.
Leila Sonkkanen, the City of Helsinki eco-support person, thanks Helen for the donation on behalf of the libraries, commenting that there is a clear demand for the meters.
"For example, the decibel meter at Oulunkylä Library was borrowed immediately, and other meters will be distributed to various outlets for lending over the autumn," Sonkkanen says.
Helen's Climate and Energy Efficiency Manager, Rauno Tolonen, deems it excellent that libraries joined in to extend the meter lending service.
"This way, the service is closer to the customer. The meters will help customers to improve the efficiency of their energy use," says Tolonen.
He adds that in the future, Helen intends to focus more than ever on developing electronic services in the provision of energy advisory services. An example is its partnership with the My2050 simulation game developed by Visia and delving into climate change.
