Fixed-term Valtti Electricity is an electricity contract that allows you to combine the benefits of fixed-priced and hourly priced electricity. A fixed electricity price component is set the day you sign the contract, which remains the same throughout the whole contract period. However, you can influence the final monthly electricity price by optimizing your electricity usage during the low-cost hours of the month. This is called usage impact, which decreases or increases the monthly electricity price depending on how you optimize your electricity usage compared to the monthly average price of exchange electricity.

What does the usage impact mean?
When you choose Valtti Electricity, register to the free Oma Helen service, which makes it easy to monitor your usage impact. Daily consumption recommendations and an hourly exchange electricity price graph helps you with optimizing your electricity usage for the low-cost hours of the month. The usage impact view also shows how your electricity usage has affected the final electricity price on your bill. You can also switch on notifications about high and low hourly electricity prices. How the price of Fixed-term Valtti Electricity is formed
The price of the Fixed-term Valtti Electricity contract consists of the fixed electricity price component, usage impact, and a monthly basic fee.
The price of the fixed component is set based on the price on the day you sign the contract, and it remains the same throughout the entire contract period. Most of the monthly electricity price forms based on this component.
The usage impact decreases or increases the monthly electricity price depending on how your hourly electricity usage compares to the monthly average price of exchange electricity. You can influence this by optimizing your electricity usage.
If most of your electricity usage occurs during the hours of the month when the exchange electricity price is higher than the monthly average, the monthly price of electricity will increase by the amount of the usage impact. If most of your electricity usage occurs during the hours of the month when the exchange electricity price is lower than the monthly average, the monthly price of electricity will decrease by the amount of the usage impact.
Fixed-term Valtti Electricity contract also has a fixed monthly basic fee that is not dependent on the amount of your electricity consumption. The monthly basic fee remains the same throughout the contract period.
Please note that the calculations provided in this page are examples of usage impact. The actual usage impact may be smaller or larger depending on the timing of your consumption and the actual monthly price of the exchange electricity. If the contract begins in the middle of the month, the usage impact for the first month may be higher or lower than usual.

Information about usage impact and steering your electricity consumption
The usage impact is formed when the hourly prices of your electricity consumption are compared to the monthly average price of exchange electricity. The usage impact either increases or decreases the monthly electricity price depending on how you schedule your hourly electricity consumption compared to the monthly average price of exchange electricity.
If you use electricity the most when the exchange electricity price is higher than the monthly average, the usage impact will increase the monthly electricity price. Conversely, if you use electricity the most when the spot electricity price is lower than the monthly average, the usage impact will decrease the monthly electricity price.
The usage impact is determined by month, and its amount resolute by the actual electricity consumption at the usage location.
Monthly average price for exchange electricity (c/kWh)
Lower price (c/kWh): Usage that decreases the price
Higher price (c/kWh): Usage that increases the price
Neutral hours (c/kWh): No major impact on the price
The usage impact means comparing the hourly prices of your consumption to the monthly average price of electricity in the power exchange.
The calculation formula used is (A-B) / E = c/kWh, which gives the usage impact for the month in question.
A = Your hourly electricity usage (kWh) is multiplied by the hourly price of exchange electricity (c/kWh), after which the products of all hours are added up. As the electricity consumption of different hours and the hourly price of exchange electricity vary to a great extent, the impact of every hour will be taken into account with this calculation formula.
B = Your electricity usage over the whole month (kWh) is multiplied by the monthly average price of exchange electricity (c/kWh). This gives the value for your electricity usage if it complies with the monthly average price of exchange electricity.
E = Your electricity usage over the whole month (kWh)
When figure B is deducted from figure A, you will get the view of how you have consumed electricity in relation to the monthly average price in the power exchange. The figure obtained is divided by the electricity usage of the whole month, which gives you the usage impact for the past month (+/- c/kWh).
The final figure is either negative, in which case the amount of your electricity bill will be decreased, or positive, in which case it will increase the amount of your electricity bill. The more you are able to shift usage to the lower-priced hours of the month, the greater the saving you will make in view of the monthly average.
Please note, that in this electricity contract the invoiced price of electric energy cannot be negative.
Where possible, carry out activities that use a lot of energy, such as doing the laundry, going to sauna, charging an EV, or using electric heating, late in the evening, during the night and at weekends when the price of electricity is lower than average.
